Downhole Tool Machining — Bodies, Mandrels, Subs, Crossovers

Downhole tools have to survive pressure, temperature, chemistry, and abuse. The parts have to be right the first time — because a re-do costs more than a job. That's the work B&R Productions is built for.

Materials we run weekly: Inconel 718 · Super Duplex 2507 · 4140 / 4340 pre-hard · 17-4 PH · Monel · Nitronic 50

What we machine

Downhole tool bodies. Mandrels. Subs and crossovers. Mud motor rotors and stators. Bit sub and shock sub components. Wireline running-tool parts. Fishing tool components. Rebuild kits from OEM or reverse-engineered prints.

Alloys and features we handle

Inconel 718, super duplex, 4140 and 4340 pre-hard, 17-4 PH, and Monel. API and custom threads — single-pointed in tough alloys. Long turned parts with the swing and bed length other job shops don't have.

Reverse engineering

Sending a used sample is fine. We inspect, model, prove out, and machine the replacement — with material traceability on the new part and first-article layout before we cut the production run.

Frequently asked questions

Can you single-point API threads in exotic alloys?

Yes — API, NPT, ACME, buttress, and custom pitches in Inconel, super duplex, and titanium.

Do you machine mud motor rotors and stators?

Yes.

Can you reverse-engineer a discontinued downhole tool from a sample?

Yes. This is a large share of our downhole work.

What are your capacity limits for long parts?

We handle long turned parts other job shops turn away. Send dimensions and we'll confirm the machine and lead time.
