Wireline Tool Machining

Wireline gets one shot. Tools that don't work at depth cost more than a recut — they cost a run. B&R Productions machines wireline components to the tolerances they actually need to survive the hole.

Materials we run weekly: Inconel 718 · 17-4 PH · 4140 pre-hard · Super Duplex 2507 · Monel

What we machine

Running tools, pulling tools, setting tools, fishing tools, locators, landing collars, mandrels, subs, and shear-pin housings. Both new-manufacture parts to print and reverse-engineered replacements from worn samples.

Alloys and features

Inconel 718 for sour-service applications, 17-4 PH for the bulk of wireline tool bodies, 4140 pre-hard for high-load structural components, super duplex where chloride resistance matters. Single-point threading, tight-tolerance shear features, and precision internal bores.

Working with wireline service companies

Emergency turnaround is normal — a fishing job that can't run is a customer losing hours per day. We stage material where possible so same-day and next-day are realistic for repeat customers. Call (936) 291-7827.

Frequently asked questions

Can you machine precision shear-pin features?

Yes — shear grooves and pin bores machined to spec with CMM verification. This is a routine wireline-tool feature we handle daily.

Do you reverse-engineer discontinued wireline tools?

Yes. Send a worn sample and we'll produce the replacement with material traceability.

What tolerances do you hold on tool-body OD/ID?

±0.0005" on critical features. Concentricity and internal bore roundness held tighter than most job shops offer.
